Animated television series 26 x 7 minutes with stories inspired by poems about animals
Concept: Stories inspired by famous poems from different countries. The Yellow Giraffe narrates the films and shares the adventures of her friends.
The internationally award-winning series, The Sun is a Yellow Giraffe is now followed by an independent sequel of 26 Animal Stories with the same bright, artistic, magical appearance, on subjects that every child can relate to. Each part tells about a different animal and includes a poem. The tales tell of wild animals from the tiger to the seal, and about familiar pets like a cat and a dog. The films move from the jungles of Borneo to the glaciers of Greenland.
These enchanting stories are inspired by such writers as William Blake, Heinrich Hoffmann, Charles-Marie Leconte de Lisle and Federico Garcìa Lorca, and are set in different cultures and social environments. Each episode is humorous and surprising and deals with feelings and experiences familiar to children. The themes are important emotional items that occur in the everyday life of each child: freedom, love, death, friendship, family life, jealousy, sorrow and happiness.
Animals are the main actors in these stories. In her role as spectator, Yellow Giraffe looks after her friends and shares their adventures. She recites poetry and wields magic powers and is an ideal fantasy friend for the children.
