In icy northern Finland lies the mystic mountain of Korvatunturi, where Santa Claus lives in his great Crystal Palace and his toy factory.
Inside the mountain, there are three huge caves and many corridors that bring to the different rooms where the tomties live. In the biggest cave, Santa’s tomties work relentlessly with joy. In the second cave, there’s the Red Caps’ office, where we find the glittering blue globe, created by Santa Claus and Smoo to put the fragments of the Magic Crystal back together again.
Every phone call, fax, letter and e-mail is received in Korvatunturi through this complicated and super-technological machine.
The third cave, the most beautiful, is the Ice Palace. This is where Santa Claus lives, supervises the tomties’ work and meets with the RED CAPS before every mission.
After having lived for years with his brother, Basil has taken the Magic Crystal with him and has escaped to an ice fortress, situated on top of a mountain.
Built by his loyal Robotiks, inaccessible and constantly covered with snow, Basil’s fortress is a labyrinth of dark and gloomy corridors. The most important room is the Control Room, a super-technological place where Basil anxiously spies his brother’s every move. However, there isn’t that sense of goodness here, which reigns at Korvatunturi.
Basil gets the energy that makes all his technological equipment work from the lava of a volcano, which lies hundreds of feet underneath the fortress. It is a very powerful energy, but also very unstable, so much so that the fortress has risked blowing up more than once.
