THE CONQUEST OF ENGLAND

Animated film, 26 minutes
Based on the medieval Bayeux tapestry
Technique: hybrid 2D/cut-out
Manuscript: Norman Hudis
Director: Les Orton
Production: Epidem ZOT and Steve Walsh Productions

The Bayeux tapestry is, almost like a comic strip, a long embroidered medieval account of how England was conquered by the Normans, culminating in the battle of Hastings in 1066. The animated film, based on the tapestry, is also a drama about the conflict between William the Conqueror, and Harold Godwinson, king of the Saxons, both being pretenders to the Crown of England.
